NetVault Server Version: 9.2.0
NetVault Server Operating System: Windows 2012 on a virtual machine that resides on an ESX Server.
Drive: Standalone TS400 LTO-2 drive with the latest Firmware and attached via SCSI to the ESX Server.
Tandberg TS400 LTO-2 drive compression was enabled, but not compressing the data in the backups.
The reason why the compression wasn’t working, is that the Tandberg TS400 LTO-2 drive wasn’t supported by VMware.
