This is a SCSI error message i.e. outside of NetVault, which can appear when an attempt is made to import media into a tape library.
The tape library and drive firmware were both upgraded to the latest versions and made sure that the Removable Storage in Windows Services was disabled and not running.
Whenever you update the firmware and/or replaced any hardware/cables etc, then you always have to remove and re-add the tape library within NetVault in the following way, otherwise further drive/backup issues will occur:
1] Make screenshots of the tape library name and configuration within NetVault Device Management.
2] Remove the tape library within NetVault Device Management.
3] Power the NetVault Server and tape library off.
4] Power on that tape library and wait until fully booted with no errors on the screen.
5] Power on the NetVault server and wait until fully booted.
6] Check Windows Device Manager and check that no Drivers have been installed for the drive i.e. has a “?” against the drive (if Windows Drivers are installed, then follow the steps in KBA 80100 to remove them and then reboot the machine).
7] Add the tape library within NetVault Device Management.
Whilst creating screenshots of the tape library configuration, we noticed that the wrong LTO drive was selected within NetVault Device Management and therefore NetVault was using the incorrect Device Template for the tape library drive.
After re-adding the tape library and drive with the correct device selections in NetVault Device Management, the media was displaying the correct usage figures.
