'MEDIUM MAGAZINE NOT ACCESSIBLE' error message occurred when a tape was moved to a tape library slot -
Description
A Spectra Logic T380 with a LTO-5 IBM Drive with a 100 slots was showing “Locked by Check media header” next to the drive and kept on cycling through moving media.

Resolution
The following errors were within the NetVault logs:
You would need to make a note of any jobs running, abort those jobs, add all the magazines back in to the tape library, reboot the NetVault Server and lastly start the aborted jobs again.

These are errors are relayed from the tape library changer back to NetVault i.e. SCSI messages and are outside of NetVault.
The problem was that a user didn’t place all the media magazines back into the tape library i.e. only had 3 x 10 slot magazines installed, the tape library was trying to place the media into slot 31 and couldn’t. Therefore the tape library ended up in a loop trying to move media around.
