Sybase APM is attempting to connect to production Sybase database environment within NetVault Backup and the following error occurs:
Error message: Failed to get list of databases - check login information. Also check that the locales.dat sybase file contains a matching entry for the environment variable LANG.
Trace files from Sybase client show:
Log Sybase message: 'Sybase Message: 'Adaptive Server requires encryption of the login password on the network.'
In this case the customer has enabled credential encryption within Sybase itself.
Sybase demands that any connectivity request is with encrypted credentials - and the APM will only transmit in clear text.
Currently, the only workaround is to disable logon request encryption from the Sybase production instance.
This has also been raised as a bug (23541) for review and fix in a newer release of the APM.
