If there is some media that you don’t wish to use for a backup i.e. write protect or if there is a piece of media you think maybe suspect, then you can mark the media as Read Only.
Perform the following steps to set the media as Read Only within NetVault Backup:
1] Launch the NetVault Consol.
2] Click on Device Management.
3] Right click on a media and select Properties.
4] Tick the Read Only box and click on OK.
You can also use the Unusable item within the Properties window as well.

Additionally you can move the red tab on physical media to write protect it too.
