SQL Server restores hang for large compressed backups - Hotfix -
Description
An issue has been found in the NVBU Plug-in for SQL Server version 6.0 that might cause the plug-in to not complete the restore job and stop restoring data from a compressed backup that was performed using the Compression option of the plug-in. This frequently occurred when restoring from backups of large SQL Server Databases for which the NetVault Backup Compression feature was used during the backup process, and many VDI streams were selected for the backup.

Cause
This scenario could happen in environments with a large number of CPUs and large SQL Server databases. In such scenarios, during backup the compressed blocks of data for a given thread are sparsely localized. During restores, this could leas to an increased memory requirement to maintain the blocks of data read from the restore stream which may fail to allocate for end users with a large number of CPUs and large databases. -
