SmartDisk replication is essentially data duplication to another instance. The difference is that you would use the option for “Used Optimised Replication for Devices that support this feature."
This is carried out as follows:
- Edit the job and go to the Advanced Options tab
- Edit the Advanced Options set to disable the "Use optimised replication between devices that support this feature"
- Save the Advanced Options set and save and submit the job which will now work.
Once the backup is finished or at a scheduled time, the backup from a source RAS device will be copied over to the target. The main difference between normal duplication and optimised replication is that the data being duplicated is being done so in deduplicated form and offloads this process onto the RAS device, not the NV Server.
