A backup job hangs for "Waiting for media".
Diagnose Media shows that although some blank tapes are available NetVault is unable to move the media into the drive. The following is repeatedly shown in the log:
"Would not be able to place media BLANK into drive"
A NetVault Virtual Tape Library is made of files and folders. The Library is a folder itself, and its Drives and slots are as well.
The Media/Tapes however, are what resides in the slots, these are files.
When a VTL media is loaded into a drive, the media file is physically moved to the drive folder.
If the file cannot be physically be moved, it will go into a state of "Waiting for Media" - and this may be for some of the following reasons:
Make sure Netvault user has Local Administrator rights on the path where the VTL is located
Make sure the tape drives are Online and Available
Make sure the license is valid and not exceeded. (You can find messages for this in the NetVault Logs and/or Alerts)
