How to reset a NetVault client's password (4047799)

The NetVault Client password has been forgotten, or an installation has been inherited with an unknown password.

There are 2 recommended ways of setting up a new password to add a NetVault Client to the Server.

A) Use txtconfig on the NetVault Client to set a new password.

1. Run txtconfig as an administrator.

> %NVHOME%\bin\txtconfig

2. Inside txtconfig, press P to list the pages.

3. Select the Security option

4. Select the option to enter a new "Master Password"

B) Use the command line tool 'nvpassword'.

> %NVHOME\bin\nvpassword [NewPassword]

The command only requires the new NetVault password as an argument. The original password is not required.
