NetVault Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) Live Client for Linux issue on low bandwidth network -
Description
Even though a BMR Live Client for Linux backup job completes successfully, a partition(s) might not be backed up if the following condition are met.Condition:- Very low disk space usage partition (for example, a separate partition for /home with only data of 1 new user during the initialization phase.)- Low bandwidth between NetVault server and client, such as over WAN.How to check for the issue: (Assuming the issue occurs on /home)*An example on the following configuration# df -HFilesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on/dev/mapper/rhel-root 49G 3.8G 45G 8% //dev/sda1 1.1G 187M 877M 18% /boot/dev/mapper/rhel-home 24G 39M 24G 1% /home# du -sk /home4612 /homeMethod1: Check the restore selection screen(WebUI | Create Restore Job | Select the saveset in question | Next)[In case of backup taken]

(As of 2019/1/18) -
Cause
The issue is due to a timing issue on finishing a backup of each partition. -
Resolution
The issue fixed by BMR Live Client for Linux 12.0.0.10. Also in the case where a partition cannot be backed up, the job will fail with error.If unable to use BMR Live Client for Linux 12.0.0.10 in your environment, the following workaround is available.1. Copy the attachment of this article, i.e. KB260796.tar.gz, to the client.2. After extracting KB260796.tar.gz, copy the “tar” script to the location specific below and change the permission and owner of the script as shown below.# cp tar /opt/storix/bin# chmod 755 /opt/storix/bin/tar# chown root:root /opt/storix/bin/tar
3. Perform a job and check to see if all partitions are back up. -
