Copy the new (.npk) file for the cluster-aware plugin to ...\NetVault\packages folder on the NetVault Backup Server. You can also copy the installation files to sub-folders within.
To upgrade to a newer version of the cluster-aware plugin, perform the following steps:
1. Before upgrading, ensure that no cluster-aware jobs are running
2. Open Manage Clients. Note the current name of your existing cluster/Virtual client.
3. Remove the Virtual Client that was created during the original virtual client creation/plugin installation. Under Clients, select the Virtual Client and select Remove Client. The Virtual Client is removed but the Member Clients/Nodes are still displayed as standard NetVault Backup Clients.
4. Then, in Manage Clients select Add Virtual Client.
5. Under Available Clients List, the available NetVault Backup Clients are listed in the box to the right. Click on the '+' button to add the nodes to the left side. The selected Clients are moved to the box to the left and grouped as a Virtual Client. Although NetVault Backup Server is listed as an eligible Client, it must not be included. To remove any Client from the group, click the '-' symbol.
6. In the Package list (right corner dropdown list), select the installation file for the plugin. This list contains all the cluster-aware .npk files copied to the packages directory and its subdirectories The files are named as follows (where x-x-x-x refers to the build and version numbers)
7. In the Virtual Client Name box, enter a unique name for the Virtual Client. ***Assign the exact same name to the Virtual Client that it had previously. If a different name is assigned, the jobs defined for the previous Virtual Client cannot be run again. *** The name cannot be changed. Spaces are not recognized in a Virtual Client name and will be replaced with underscores (“_”).
8. In the Virtual Client Address box, enter the cluster application’s IP address.
9. Click Create Virtual Client. The NetVault: Backup Server begins upgrading the plugin on all the Member Clients. This process overwrites any standard version of the same plugin installed on the members. Assign the cluster to the appropriate client group (default if you don't use client groups).
10. If this is a database cluster plugin go within the Create Backup and select create new selection set, expand the Clustered Client (Yellow Icon) and highlight the database and use the Action button above to configure username/password/domain, etc..
You are now ready to use this Cluster and it's APM to back data up.
