All backups from a Linux client fail when targeting a DR4100 appliance, whether the plugin used is Oracle or File System.
The NetVault binary log shows:
----
Job has been assigned device 'DR4x00 (NVBU) - 172.0.0.21'
Job manager lost message channel unexpectedly
Job Status: Backup Failed
----
Dump files and trace on the Linux client show the plugin crashing.

----
The error message: "Job manager lost message channel unexpectedly" means that the nvjobmgr process on the NVBU server can no longer communicate with the plugin process on the client to backup. Therefore, attention should be directed to the client.
- Are there any dump files under netvault/dumps?
- If the issue can be reproduced at will, enabling trace on the client and re-running the faling job will helpcapture what happens with the plugin.
- Test targeting other devices such as SmartDisk or VTL, if the jobs succeed we know there is an issue with the DR4x00
Specifically always make sure all clients are using the latest versions of NVBU so they are compatible with the DR4x00 builds and versions.
