Issue
A user was migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010 inter-org (cross forest) and the migration completed successfully without any errors. However, the user is reporting approximately 75 email missing.
Cause
These are items that were skipped by way of the "BadItemLimit" setting in the Exchange Pro GUI. The underlying New-MoveRequest PowerShell command used to migrate the mailbox content does not log the individual messages that are skipped due to corruption.
Solution
Upon testing and verifying via TechNet that the New-MoveRequest will only perform a "soft delete" when the source is Exchange 2010 SP1. To recover the messages from an Exchange 2003 source, you would need to restore from backups.
