When forwarding email with doc links via SMTP the links will be lost. How can emails that have doc links be forwarded from Notes to the Exchange environment?
SMTP has a limitation that will not preserve doc links when they are forwarded to Exchange mailboxes based on SMTP forwarding rules.
The only way that you can maintain doc links when forwarding, is to forward through the Notes Connector.
When configuring the Notes Connector, there are three options for "converting" doc links when forwarding mail, which need to be configured on your Notes Connector for Microsoft in Exchange System Manager.
They are as follows:
Option 1: OLE Document Link - This will create something similar to an .NDL link that will open the Notes client and follow through to the target item.
Option 2: RTF Attachment - The connector will try to find and open the document and convert it to an attachment in the target environment.
Option 3: URL Shortcut - The connector will try to create an http link to use to open the item; most likely through the Notes client.
