Directory Export Fails with ERROR: [2440-144-10-80040E21] Unable to import GroupMembers. (4285927)

When running Directory Export in NME the process fails and the logs show the following error:

18:53:08 ERROR: [2440-144-10-80040E21] Unable to import GroupMembers:
18:53:08 Error: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
18:53:08 Error 80040E21.

This problem is caused by the existence of a non-standard Notes Group in the Source Domino Directory. Once the problem group is located it will be shown with an incorrect group type such as a numeric value ("0" for example). Standard Group types in a Domino Directory are:

• Multi-purpose
• Access Control List only
• Mail only
• Servers only
• Deny List only

WORKAROUND

The problem groups will need to be removed. To locate them open the Domino Directory and click on the column sort arrow above the group icons in the Groups view.

The Groups with missing icons will have non-standard group types that cause Directory Export to fail.

If the non-standard Groups are being used by another application in the Domino Estate then create a new Notes copy of the Domino Directory, remove the problem groups and add this as the source for Directory Export in the Find NABS dialogue of NME.

From the Notes Client interface it is not possible to create these non-standard groups from the pick list when creating a new group, if non-standard entries exist then it's likely that they were created programmatically and care will need to be taken to ensure these groups are not required by another third party program.
