What is the recommended Best Practice for NDS Migrator setup? -
Resolution
It is recommended that NDS Migrator be setup on a workstation (Windows 2000 or XP) or a Member Server in the Target Domain, as the Novell Client is required and will (usually) be removed after the Migration Project is complete. You will have to be logged into both NDS and AD concurrently with Administrator rights to both Novell and Windows to perform object or Data Migrations.
SQL Server
Depending on the size of the NDS Migration, it is recommended that if there is a total of 10,000 objects or more that SQL 2000 is used. A lesser number of objects then this can be Supported by using MSDE 2000.
If using MSDE on the same machine as NDS Migrator console, it is recommended that you have more physical memory available for this computer then the minimum recommended. Support suggest at least 512 Mb.
If using either SQL 2000 or SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition, it is recommended that the SQL Server reside on a separate computer then where the NDS Migrator console is installed and that it meets the Microsoft recommendation for Hardware and software.
