When performing a volume migration with Quest NDS Migrator, any permissions inherited from above the folder tree do not migrate over to the target windows share.
The above scenario is by design.
Quest NDS Migrator will only copy explicit permissions at the tree level specified for the volume migration, and will cascade these permissions down until an IRF is encountered. Any permissions that are inherited from above the tree (from the start point specified in the volume migration path) will not be copied over to the destination.
When an IRF is encountered, inheritance is broken, and permissions are calculated and set explicitly.
To resolve the issue, in the target at the root level, set the same permissions as that of the source root. This will allow the permissions to flow down from above on the target in the same manner as they do in the source.
Issue fixed in version 4.3. The latest version of Quest NDS Migrator can be downloaded at: http://support.quest.com/support_download/Downloads.asp
