Unable to install MSDE 2000. Error states: "A strong SA password is required for security reasons." Please use SAPWD switch to supply the same. Refer to readme for more details. Setup will now exit."

Cause
This is a recent change to increase the security of MSSQL in response to some damaging Internet worms which had propagated wildly through thousands of MSSQL installations which had not been assigned an sa (system administrator) password -
Resolution
1) Copy the MSDE2K directory to the root of your C: drive
2) Choose Start | Run and enter the command line: c:\MSDE2K\setup.exe SAPWD=YourPassword and then click OK.
MSDE 2000 installation should then launch and run successfully. -
Additional Information
Even if the admin password falls into the requirements of a strong password, the error will still occur.
