Passwords will no longer synchronize since the target domain Active Directory (AD) administrative account password was changed. The tool worked before the password had been changed.
The AD administrative account password which was used (and required) for installation of the Password Sync Tool was changed post install. This password is stored in Component Services (COM+), and will not be updated if the password is changed in AD.
To resolve this issue, the password must be manually reset in Component Services to reflect the new password for the AD administrative account:
1) Select Start | Run
The Component Services dialog box will open.
3) Expand Component Services
4) Expand Computers
5) Expand My Computer
6) Expand COM+ Applications
7) Select NDSPSK, right-click and choose properties
8) Select 'Identity' tab
9) Enter the current password for the AD administrative account
10) Click Apply
11) Click OK
Failed sync attempts will show up in the Application logs in Event Viewer. Each failed login records two errors at the same time-one error source is for COM+ and the other an Application Error. Each COM+ error will make the following reference:
server application error: NDSPSK
