Enterprise Vault (EV) reports MMPSTEA provided large PST files are password protected while attempting to ingest PST files.
The affected PST file is set to the migration status “Password protected” and this error is linked to “Ingest – Enterprise Vault module” in MMPSTEA Admin Console:
PST migration of \\BITSUploadPath\PstFile.pst: The PST is password protected
Several EV systems use a version of Outlook which restricts the size of PST files on the system. This behavior can occur when the size of the PST being processed is larger than the MaxLargeFileSize registry entry on the EV server.
At the time of this authoring, this issue occurs in a default configuration to PST files larger than 20 GB.
1) Identify failed item due to password protection failure in Enterprise Vault
2) Confirm the file has gone through the Password Remover module within the “Progress” window in the MMPSTEE Admin Console
3) Verify the “MaxLargeFileSize” registry key is set on the EV server and any MMPSTEE servers.
Default location for key for Outlook 2007 is as follows: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\PST
4) Re-Queue the file for EV Processing.
