Autodiscover service call failed with error 'The Autodiscover service couldn't be located.'

When trying to synchronize mailboxes to Exchange 2013 the following lines are displayed in the MAgE (Migration Agent for Exchange) log file.

No matching Autodiscover DNS SRV records were found.

The MAgE uses Autodiscover to connect to mailboxes in the Exchange 2013 environment.  The agent first polls AD (Active Directory) for the SCP (Service Connection Point) object that was created during setup of Exchange (http://autodiscover.domain.net/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml).  It will then try to connect to the server to obtain the information for the mailbox so that the agent can connect to Exchange.

So with the errors above the agent is not able to find the proper server that was configured within Autodiscover.  In this case there no SRV records created for the autodiscover service.

Simply creating a A Name or CNAME DNS record is not enough when configuring Autodiscover for use in the Exchange environment.
