When configuring a Public folder synchronization to / from 2016 can the same public folder agent be shared across environments? -
Cause
Customer requirement may stipulate to use a few agent hosts as possible, however Exchange 2016 Public folder agents are required to be dedicated agents solely for 2016 use. -
Resolution
Any public folder synchronization job involving Exchange 2016 will require a dedicated Public folder agent solely for Exchange 2016 use.
The mechanism how Migration Manager connects to 2016 is different to the process used in Exchange 2007 / 2010 / 2013, which excludes the shared use of one agent in these synchronization scenarios.
