The drive where Quest Migration Manager for Exchange (QMM for Ex) agents are installed has run out of space and as a result I am unable to continue with mailbox migration. How do I point the location of the QMMEX$server_name$ shared folder to another drive?
When you first install an agent on a new Agent Host Server, the Install/Uninstall Agents wizard will allow you to specify an installation path. By default the installation path is the Windows %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. On Microsoft Exchange x64 the default shared folder is created in the %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64 folder. This can be changed to a non-system partition if required. However, subsequent agent installations to the same host have to be installed to this same location.
For an existing Agent Host Server which already has agents installed, new agents must be installed to this same path. However, you can use the steps provided in the Resolution section of this Solution to move all the agents on this host to a different drive.
To move the Migration Manager for Exchange agents to another drive:
1. Stop all the agents on the server where the drive has run out of space.
2. In Project Manager management tree, right-click the server from which the agents will be moved and select the Uninstall Service command for each of the agents installed on that server.
3. Copy the Aelita Exchange Migration Wizard folder from C:\WINNT\System32 (or another location, if non-default location was used) to the disk where you wish to locate the folder.
4. Copy the following files from the root of the drive where the agents were originally located to the root of the drive where the share is now located.
For the mail synchronization agents - EMWST.DAT
For the Public Folder synchronization agents - EMWSTP.DAT
For the Calendar synchronization agent - EMWSCSA.DAT, if there is a two-way sync then there is a second file - EMWTCSA.DAT
5. Delete the share (QMMEX$server_name$) associated with the original Aelita Exchange Migration Wizard folder. Delete the original Aelita Exchange Migration Wizard folder once everything is working OK.
6. Share the copied or new location of the Aelita Exchange Migration Wizard folder as QMMEX$server_name$.
Note: Check the permissions of the share as in Windows 2003 and above the default permission is Read and the agents will need Full access.
7. Re-install all the services for the agents that were previously running on this server.
8. Start all Migration Manager agents and monitor their log files to make sure the agents are running properly after re-installation.
