TargetAddress Incorrect Hybrid Migration -
Description
After switching a user though the Office 365 console of Migration Manager, the "targetaddress" attribute of the on premises AD source user object is being set to the primary SMTP address of the target environment, not the value for the O365 tenant like it is supposed to. -
Cause
The Office 365 account created to process O365 mailboxes is created in the User Principal Name (UPN) format. This account is where Migration Manager extracts the forwarding domain address when stamping accounts after a switch is performed. If the 365 account is created using a more directly related domain upn format of the business, it can create routing issues. -
Resolution
To resolve the situation your account used will have to reflect the Office 365 tenant UPN.
For example, the administrative credential account created for Office 0365 should be similar to "domainguid.onmicrosoft.com" or "name.onmicrosft.com" in format.
Migration Manager will then extrapolate this domain and create forwarding addresses to stamp source accounts with.
