Is it possible to increase the size of the .pst file that is created by the mail source agent?
In a migration where there is good connectivity between the source and target Exchange servers, the .pst file size can be increased to improve performance.
To increase the .pst file size that will be created by the mail source agent follow the below steps:
To change all servers settings:
1. Within the Migration Manager console, navigate to the Exchange Data tab.
2. Click Tools | Default.
3. Under the mail source agent/data transfer units you can change the .pst file size in increments of 1mb.
To change individual servers settings:
1. Within the Migration Manager console, navigate to the Exchange Data tab.
2. Drill down through the source organization until you reach the server you wish to change the settings on.
3. Right-click and select Properties.
4. Under the mail source agent/data transfer units settings you can perform the same 1mb increment change.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These settings should only be modified if the Exchange servers can handle the increased load, and if network connectivity between the two servers can handle the increased data transfer. Within the same locations mentioned above there is also a compression setting. By default this is set to "best", which means the .pst files will be compressed as much as possible. With good network connectivity this setting can be decreased, or even in some situations turned off, which can increase the processing of mail items, as the mail agents do not have to perform any decompression of the files. Before modifying these settings we recommend that your Quest Professional Services individual be consulted to discuss to the possible problems that could result.
