Renaming of the QMM console or of the DSA computer and possible consequences. (4351377)

QMM console machine has bene renamed. Now, when attempting to re-install or install any of the components, the procedure fails with errors.

What can be done?

Renaming the QMM console is not supported.

If the computer needs to be renamed then the OS needs to be reinstalled, and only then QMM can be installed on this computer again.

If rebuilding the OS is not an option then one can try to uninstall absolutely all Quest components and also the SQL and ADAM or ADLDS and then use the MS clean up tool and remove all leftovers and then, after a reboot, try to install the tool again. If regular setup will fail Express setup can be tried. If DSA install will fail with the error about incorrect path then the MSI can be put into the folder where the tool is trying to find the MSI. BUt it has been proven, that choosing another computer or rebuilding the OS is the fastest and easiest workaround in such a situation.

If the renaming is being only planned and didn't happen yet then please refrain from renaming the QMM console or the DSA or ADAM computer.
