Some or all of the following errors may be seen in Resource Updating Manager (RUM) logs when attempting to process scheduled tasks:
Services Error 5 Access is denied. Cannot open key HKLM: 'SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\McAfeeFramework' (System (local), RegCreateKeyEx).
Profiles Error 5 Access is denied. Cannot write security descriptor HKU: '<security identifier>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun' (System (local), RegSetKeySecurity).
Registry Error 5 Access is denied. Cannot write security descriptor HKU: '<security identifier>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun' (System (local), RegSetKeySecurity).
ScheduledTasks Error -2147024891 Access is denied. Cannot set the account name of the task 'test.job' scheduled on '(local)'.
In this instance the cause appears to lie with a McAfee registry key that failed to be processed due to lack of permissions. The McAfee Anti Virus (AV) software has secured these keys in such a way that RUM does not have access.
If the issue was specific to the McAfee key only, and the QMM service account was confirmed to have the correct rights as per Quest documentation, the error could probably be safely ignored. However, if AV software is blocking the running of scheduled tasks the customer may wish to check that appropriate exclusions are in place and consider engaging their vendor support in order to investigate further.
