Unable to deploy RUM Agent - Ping issues (4294353)

While the DNS setup allows to access to computers outside the MMAD subnet, ping fails while DNS and IP Addresses are corrects

When attempting to ping workstation outside the MMAD subnet, the ping fails.

Any workstation inside the Subnet will work fine

This issue could be Firewall related

Ping requires ICMP to be allowed so if, the company policy do not allow for disabling the Firewall completely, at least File and Printing Sharing (Echo Request) should be enabled

If it is not allowed to disable the Windows Firewall by turning the service OFF or if, when turned off, the workstation’s GPO kicks in and turns it back on then the File and Printer Sharing – Echo Request – ICPMv4-In , Inbound rule should be setup to allow the RUM Agent to deploy

This can be automatized by following the procedure below via GPO

Open the GPO Editor

Add a new Rule as per below
