How to increase the number of threads used by RUM controller to allow more agents to be processed in parallel -
Description
For Enterprise customers processing potentially thousands of workstations can result in degraded RUM controller / agent performance.
Where RUM task performance may be insufficient for the task configuring the WorkerPoolSize setting will increase the number of threads used for scheduling and applying tasks to agents, updating task statuses and getting and storing results from agents etc.
This setting configures the number of threads used by RUM controller to process any task activities related to particular agents. -
Cause
Internally the RUM controller has a common queue containing agent-related activities for each agent.
For example when a processing task is being started for 'N' computers there are 'N' elements added to the queue and these elements are processed later by the “RUM processing thread pool”.Consequently the more computers the RUM controller processes the larger thread pool should be – to give an opportunity for more agents to be processed in parallel and improving performance. -
Resolution
By default the RUM thread pool size is 100, but this can be increased up to 1000 to gauge improved performance.
** Please note 1000 is the maximum value Migration Manager support will support.
Configuring the WorkerPoolSize setting
1. Open Regedit
2. Browse toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QsRUMController
3. Create new key Config to give the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QsRUMController\Config
4. Create new DWORD Value named WorkerPoolSize and assign a value between 500 to 1000 (see example screenshot below)
