When installing the Exchange 64-bit extensions on an Exchange 2013 / 2016 / 2019 server the OWA configuration wizard will not accept credentials for the SuperUser account
For the Exchange 64-bit extensions to function on a new version of Microsoft Exchange, the account it runs with must have a mailbox in the new Exchange environment. To allow the installation to accept credentials you must perform one of the following:
1. Migrate the SuperUser Account to the new Exchange environment
- or -
2. Create a new account to be used for the Exchange 64-bit extensions
- When setting up a new account, make sure to run the install on the Exchange servers and specify the new account's credentials when asked
- The new account will need to be a local administrator on the Exchange server
- The new account will need the Impersonation role setup in Exchange. This role can be created with the following command (replace SUPUERUSER with your account):
New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "Impersonation-MAM4Exchange" -Role "ApplicationImpersonation" -User SUPERUSER
If the role already exists you can add the new account to the existing role member list with the following command (replace SUPUERUSER with your account):
Add-RoleGroupMember "Impersonation-MAM4Exchange" -Member SUPERUSER
