Users need to opened archived messages in Outlook Web Access (OWA)
Users are unable to access attachments for archived messages in Outlook Web Access (OWA)
1. Remote into any Exchange server in the environment that hosts the Client Access role. If there is only one Exchange server, it will be the one.
2. Open an Exchange Management Shell and apply Impersonation permissions for OWA for the archive superuser account using the following script:
New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Name "Impersonation-Metalogix" –Role "ApplicationImpersonation" –User “SUPERUSER”
Make sure SUPERUSER is replaced by the name of the archive superuser account and run an IISRESET after permissions are applied. This will momentarily logout all users using OWA so sometimes it's advisable to run the reset after business hours.
3. Download the Metalogix Archive Manager for Exchange installer from the Quest Downloads site here: https://support.quest.com/metalogix-archive-manager-for-exchange/
Note: If the Metalogix install package has not been deleted from the Archive Server all the install files needed can be found in the C:\Metalogix folder on the server.
After downloading and extracting the install package find the 64bit Extension folder which contains the install package for the Metalogix Archive Manager for Exchange 64 bit extensions
4. Open the installation package as an administrator and install any missing components when prompted.
5. Enter the archive superuser credentials and click Next.
6. Choose the location for the installation and click Next.
7. Make sure both the OWA extension and Exchange Management Tools are selected and click Next.
8. Enter the name of the archive server (not the Exchange server being used), test the connection, and click Next.
9. Allow firewall exceptions to be made by leaving the box checked and click Next.
10. Click Install to begin the installation.
11. When prompted, launch the OWA installer, choose Install/Repair and click Next.
12. Enter all required information into the Configuration parameters (the ExchangePamWS and Exchange Web Service URL will be pre-populated and typically require no alteration). Typically you will only need to enter your OWA URL in the OWA Alias name URL field and click Next.
13. Enter the archive superuser credentials and click Next.
14. Enter the name of the archive server as the Primary Archive Server. Secondary Archive Server is only necessary in a multi-archive server environment. OWA cache folder path should be pre-populated and typically requires no alteration.
15. View the installation summary and click Install.
16. Allow the installation to complete, then click Finish.
NOTE: This installation must be completed on all servers hosting the Client Access Role in the Exchange environment, including those within a CAS array.
