When running either the OWA or the Windows Mobile default gathering tasks, a large number (i.e. hundreds/thousand) of the following error is observed in the task logs:
Error occurred while trying to normalize the user account name '<username>'. This account will not be normalized to the DOMAIN\User format.
Besides this, the following errors are also present in the task logs:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007054B): The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007054B) at ActiveDs.NameTranslateClass.Set(Int32 lnSetType, String bstrADsPath) at OWAReportPack.qmsOWAProcessor.OWAProcessor.NormalizeUserName(String& username)
The following verifications have been made:

The users have been verified to be valid AD users with valid Exchange access.

There is only a single domain and the usernames are typed in correctly.
