After migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2007 to 2010 and you see warnings similar to the following:
The mailbox XXXXXX could not be associated to a store in the database
(/O=QUEST/OU=USERS/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=<UserName>).
Exchange 2007 mailbox servers where mailboxes used to exist are still part of the Default Gathering.
WORKAROUND 1
1. If the server(s) have already been decommissioned, right-click your Exchange Organization and Select Regather Structure.
2. Take note of the existing Default Gathering task settings and delete and then recreate the task at the organization level.
WORKAROUND 2
1. If the server(s) has not been decommissioned, take note of the existing Default Gathering task settings and delete and then recreate the task at the Exchange 2010 server level from the Servers node.
2. Manually add the rest of your servers except for the Exchange 2007 servers by right-clicking on the required servers and select "Add to task"
3. The Default Gathering will now only run against Exchange 2010 servers and not be looking at the 2007 servers where mailbox information used to reside.
