Sometimes xp_backup_database fails with SLS Error: No Result XML returned from Engine
Description

The error is [SQLSTATE 01000] Msg 50000, Sev 16, State 1: SLS Error: No Result XML returned from Engine. (Possible abend/termination) .
This happens since the last Litespeed upgrade and the issue happens intermittently.
Cause

Intermittent backup issue might occur if you are using an old license key on the LiteSpeed version 8.6 or higher.
Ensure you are using the new format license key.
Resolution

To check the license run the following:

EXEC master.dbo.xp_sqllitespeed_licenseinfo
The license key returned should be a long alphanumerical string and the site message should be null.
If that is not true please ask for an upgrade key to licensing and license LiteSpeed again with that new key.
To register a license key:
EXEC master.dbo.xp_sqllitespeed_licenseinfo
@licensekey = 'yourkeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy'
