Does a maintenance plan see new, recently created databases. Database which are created after the time that that maintenance plan had been created? -
Resolution
New databases that are created after the maintenance plan (MP) has already been created with its specified databases will also be included in the backup task if for the 'Include Databases' option, you have selected "All databases", "User databases". It will also include the new databases if you have selected 'Database Matching Wildcard Expression' or 'Database Matching Regular Expression' and the new databases match the specified pattern. This requires no editing of the MP.
If you are using 'Selected Databases', and you go edit the MP, the newly added database will be now available in the list and can be selected.
However, if you have any 'Exclude Databases' configured, and the new databases match what is to be excluded, then the new databases will be excluded. The "exclude" takes precedence over "include".
