How to use statistics and not install a central repository? (14883)

When there is a single SQL Server instance and the user does not want to install a central repository, how can the statistics be updated with no central repository?

1. Install the local repository database.

2. From Instance Configuration, add a Central Repository.

3. During the Central Repository installation, browse to the same host/instance as the local repository | select the existing local repository for the central repository. This will force the updates to be on the same database. A central repository database will not be required, since the local repository will serve both roles.
