Manually Deploy vRanger virtual appliance for vRanger 7.x

Auto deploy of the vRanger VA is not working or it is required to deploy the VA manually.

There can be a number of reason that can interfere with the auto deployment of the vRanger VA.

Please follow these steps to manually deploy a vRanger virtual appliance(VA).
The virtual appliance is located in the vRanger installation folder as an OVA file, the default path is: "C:\Program Files\Quest\vRanger\vRanger-Virtual-Appliance_nnn.ova"
In the vSphere Client, click File, then Deploy OVF Template.
Click browse to provide the path for the VA ova and click Open, then click Next.
Continue through the deployment process, selecting the appropriate host and datastore configuration.
If you do not use DRS in your environment proceed to step 6. If you do use DRS in your environment please disable DRS for the VA.
a. In your vSphere client, find the cluster containing the vRanger VA.
b. Right-click on the cluster and select Edit Settings.
c. In the Cluster Settings dialog, select Virtual Machine Options.
d. Search or find the vRanger VA, right-click the VA and select Manual and click OK.
Power on the VA.
If there is no DHCP that will provide an IP address to the VA or you would like for it to have a static IP, please follow these steps otherwise proceed to step 9.
a.Login to the VA.
b.Run the following command vi /etc/sysconfig/ifconfig.eth0.
c. Edit the configuration file as needed with the following information quotes are needed as well:
If a static IP was configured in step 7 then DNS may not have been configured for the VA, please follow these steps to configure DNS, if DNS is not needed proceed to step 9.
a. Login to the VA.
b. Using the VI text editor, edit the resolv.conf file by running the following command vi /etc/resolv.conf.
c. Enter the following text, substituting the appropriate values where indicated:
d. Save the file, hit Esc, then type :wq.
e. Restart the VA by typing reboot at the prompt or restart the network service by typing /etc/init.d/network restart.
The VA can now be added to vRanger's GUI. Go to Tools | Options | Virtual Appliance - Configuration | Click Add | find the VA in the list and enter its password | Click OK.
To deploy the scratch disk use the GUI, in the same window where the VA was added, check it and click Edit. At the bottom check to use the VA for replication, and set the size of the scratch disk. Click OK.
It is recommended to set the VAs' vCPUs to 4 and the RAM memory to 4 GB as a minimum.
