In the editor, if the background color is set to black, the symbols '-', '<', and '>', etc. are also set to black, making them "invisible", unless the line is highlighted by the cursor. This can make it very difficult to quickly see a comparison check like 'variable <> -1' since it appears as 'variable 1' when looking through the code.
How can the font color for punctuations be changed to make them visible on a black background?
The custom colors are not being recognized for some symbols. In the following example, only some symbols are being recognized in custom colors and changed, the other colors remain black. If black is used as the background, these symbols become unreadable.
Remains black ! @ # $ -
Recognized % ^ & * ( ) _ - + = : ; "
WORKAROUND:
Do not use a black background.
But if a black background is required, use the predefined Twilight setting for for View | Preferences | Code Editor | General | Syntax Highlighting | Highlighting Styles. This will give you a black background. But do not change the color settings for the set up because it can throw off the color settings the unrecognized punctuations again.
