The Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server requires Internet access. In case of a firewall usage, the following URLs must be enabled on the host:

Consider installing the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server App on a computer that is always switched on. Spotlight Cloud cannot monitor your connections while the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server host is switched off or otherwise unable to access the Internet.

The Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server App installs on a Microsoft Windows hosted operating system:

Ensure the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server host is in a Windows domain.

Ensure .NET 4.5.2 or later is installed on the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server host.

The Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server is not supported on a cluster or High Availability Always On.

CPU / RAM requirements tie in to the number of connections Spotlight Cloud will monitor.

For an average load on the monitored instances:

Network Ports:

Ensure the following Network ports are open on the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server host

  • TCP 3166 - This port is used by the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server to communicate with the Spotlight Native Collector process on the same host. No external connections are required on this port.

  • TCP 443 - This port is used by the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server to communicate with Spotlight Cloud. This port must be open for outgoing connections on the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server host when uploading to Spotlight Cloud is enabled on the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server.

  • TCP 8930 - The Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server and Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server app use this port to communicate with each other. No external connections are required on this port.

​Additional Requirements:

  • Do not install multiple Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server on the same host. For example, customers of Spotlight Enterprise should not install the Spotlight Cloud Diagnostic Server and Spotlight Enterprise Diagnostic Sever on the same host.

  • SQL Server Client Tools are required to use the Discovery Wizard to locate SQL Servers on your network. SQL Server Client Tools can be found on the Microsoft SQL Server installation media.

  • SQL Server Management Tools are required to use Session Trace when monitoring a SQL Server. The SQL Server Management Tools are available from any SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014 or SQL Server 2016 edition except SQL Server Express and SQL Server Compact. The version required corresponds to the latest version of SQL Server that you are monitoring.
