Netvault supports FIPS-compliant AES256 encryption method using the OpenSSL 2.0 FIPS module from 13.01 onwards
Consideration for using FIPS plugin
Can End users use the old Encryption plugin? if so how ?
Customer can use AESFIPS Encryption from 13.01 onwards However AES256 FIPS compliant backups are noticeably slower and if End User would prefer to use AES256 (non-FIPS compliant) in the benefit of the backup speeds
Please follow the below steps
NV_HOME/config/encryption.cfg file. ( where NV_HOME is the installation directory of Netvault)
[Client:Crypto Algorithm]
Type=Combo
Width=24
Label=Available Encryption Algorithms
Help=Please select an Encryption Algorithm
Help Id=0
Value=AES256_OLD
Range=No module selected,AES256,CAST128,CAST256,AES256_OLD
Label Id=7047
After changing this restart the netvault service.
Now one can opt the AES256_OLD for non-fips mode encryption for further backup
