This video describes how to:
1. View and filter log messages in the NetVault WebUI
2. Download or export Binary logs
3. Generate and download Trace logs

A: To view log messages:
1 - In the Navigation pane, click View Logs.
2 - On the View Logs page, you can view the log messages generated by various processes.
B: To set log filters:
1 - In the Navigation pane, click View Logs.
2 - On the View Logs page, click Filter.
3 - In the Set Log Filter dialog box, configure the options that you want to use.
C: To download Binary Logs:
1 - In the Navigation pane, click View Logs.
2 - Click Download, and in the Confirm Download Logs dialog box, select the dump format:
Binary Log: Select this option to export the logs to a binary file (“.nlg”).
3 - Click Download, and in the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
D: To generate trace logs:
1 - In the Navigation pane, click Change Settings.
2 - To enable diagnostic tracing on the NetVault Backup Server:
On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
3 - To enable diagnostic tracing on a NetVault Backup Client:
On the Configuration page, click Client Settings. In the NetVault Backup Clients table, select the client, and click Next. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.

On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing. On the Diagnostic Trace Settings page, click Client Trace Settings, and select the clients. You can select multiple clients from this page.
4 - On the Diagnostic Trace Settings page, click Enable Tracing. In the Trace Enable Options dialog box, there is a choice of settings: Immediately; At Service Startup; At a certain time. Choose the setting and reproduce the issue that is being experienced.
E: To download trace logs:
1 - In the Navigation pane, click Change Settings.
2 - To download trace files from the NetVault Backup Server:
On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.
3 - To download trace files from a NetVault Backup Client:
On the Configuration page, click Client Settings. In the NetVault Backup Clients table, select the client, and click Next. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing.

On the Configuration page, click Server Settings. Under System and Security, click Diagnostic Tracing. On the Diagnostic Trace Settings page, click Client Trace Settings. Select the client, and click Browse Available Traces.
4 - In the list of trace sessions, select the session that you want to download.
5 - Click Download, and in the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
