Resolution
Follow the steps below in order. Each step is required — do not skip the manual folder cleanup in step 5, as residual files will affect the new 9.3 installation.
Step 1 — Confirm current PST FlightDeck 9.2 environment
Confirm that the environment is currently running PST FlightDeck 9.2 and that postprocesses are running. Open the Admin Console and check the About PST Flight Deck dialog to verify the installed version, license, and database information before starting the upgrade.
Step 2 — Stop all PST Flight Deck services
Open the Services console (services.msc) and stop every PST Flight Deck service, including:
- PST Flight Deck Core
- PST Flight Deck Module (AdminService, Azure AD Sync, Backup, Clean Up, ContentScanner, Deduplication, EV, EV Shortcut Rehydration, Exchange, Exchange Archive, Extraction, Leftover, Local Upload, Office365, Office365 Archive, OneDrive Scan, OneDrive Upload, Park, PowerShell, Repair)
- PST Flight Deck Monitoring service
Verify the Status column is blank for every PST Flight Deck service before continuing.
Step 3 — Back up the PST FlightDeck installation files
Locate the existing PST FlightDeck installation folder and copy it to a safe backup location. Only the PST FlightDeck installer files need to be backed up at this stage.
The default installation path is:
c:\Program Files\Quadrotech\
Step 4 — Remove PST FlightDeck 9.2
Run the same 9.2 installer EXE that was originally used to install PST FlightDeck. When the installer wizard opens, choose Remove to fully uninstall the product.
Important
The remove process must be performed using the 9.2 installer, not the 9.3 installer. Using the wrong installer for removal will leave components behind and break the upgrade.
Step 5 — Manually delete leftover files
After the uninstall completes, the installer typically leaves behind folders containing content, configuration files, and DLLs in the original install path:
c:\Program Files\Quadrotech\
Important
Manually delete the entire PST Flight Deck folder together with all of its contents. Skipping this step will cause the new 9.3 installation to inherit stale DLLs and configuration files from 9.2.
Step 6 — Install PST FlightDeck 9.3
Run the new PST FlightDeck 9.3 EXE installer. In the installation wizard, use the same settings as the previous installation:
- Service account
- IP address / server name
- License key
- SQL Server connection
- File locations (upload, processing, backup, etc.)
Reusing the same configuration values is required so that the new 9.3 installation reconnects to the existing FlightDeck database and continues working with the same data.
Step 7 — Start all PST FlightDeck services
Open the Services console and verify which PST FlightDeck services are running. Manually start any service that is not yet running, so that all PST FlightDeck modules are active.
Step 8 — Verify postprocesses in the Admin Console
Open the PST Flight Deck Admin Console and confirm that user data, PST files, and postprocesses are visible and progressing as expected. Check the Users view to verify that PST file Status, Upload Status, and Process Module values are updating — this confirms the modules are running correctly under 9.3.
