Quest does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. - Reboot the VM. If it offers to boot to Windows repair, accept that, otherwise boot to a Window CD or ISO. The AppAssure URC CD should also work.
- Click on Repair > Command Prompt
- Enter: Regedit
- From regedit click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Click on File>Load Hive
- Go to C:\windows\system32\config (It is assumed the OS drive has drive letter C: when you're booted to the CD). Verify that you have the correct disk by checking the disk size. The drive lettering is frequently incorrect at this point.
- Choose 'System' and click 'ok'.
- Give it a temp name (Ex. TEMP).
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\TEMP\ControlSet001\services
- Confirm the 'Start' value of the following drivers:
- Aliide = 3
- Amdide =3
- Atapi = 0
- Cmdide = 3
- iaStorV = 3
- intelide = 0
- msahci = 3
- pciide = 3
- viaide = 3
- LSI_SAS = 0
- Click on HKLM\TEMP. Then choose file>Unload Hive.
- Reboot to Windows.
