Failed to perform the upgrade. Upon trying unable to connect to the central instance.
Error received "Invalid token for impersonation - it cannot be duplicated"
Workaround 1:
Verify if the user account being used has local admin and sysadmin permissions on the SQL Server instance.
1. Close ApexSQL Audit console.
2. Run task manager and kill ApexSQL Audit Distributed processor (a background process - it will automatically restart)
3. Go back to the Central repository instance, restart ApexSQL Audit console, and check if the issue still persists.
4. If issue persist, recheck the log to see if the older version appears instead of the latest one.
Workaround 2:
Upon restarting the Apexsql and still seeing the same error "Invalid token for impersonation - it cannot be duplicated" when trying to connect to the central instance.
Unable to use the configured audit configuration.
Firstly will require to create a backup of the archive database for later use on the target server /SQL Server instance (e.g. ArchiveCrd_20210804_XXXXXX.bak).
1. Go to Configure tab and export the configuration settings for servers/databases you are auditing. You can also export any other custom configuration for
reporting/alerting/scheduled reporting filters.
2. Create an archive of the ApexSQL Audit central repository database.The archive database uses the ArchiveCrd_yyyymmdd_hhmmss database name pattern (e.g.
ArchiveCrd_20210804_XXXXXXXX).
3. Create a backup of the archive database for later use on the target server /SQL Server instance (e.g. ArchiveCrd_20210804_XXXXXX.bak).
4. Uninstall ApexSQL Audit
5. Remove all ApexSQL Audit folders from Program files, program data and appdata.
6. Remove any temporary storage folder if you have
7. Download the latest version of ApexSQL Audit installer and run it as Administrator
8. Once completed the install, run the ApexSQL Audit GUI
9. Add the audited Servers you want to audit and import the exported setting done earlier. Once the GUI and central repository database are installed on the target server,
restore the archived backup on the Server instance that you specified as the main application host during the installation.
10. After restoring the archived database on the target server, please navigate to the ApexSQL Audit GUI -> options tab in the main ribbon -> reporting and add the archived database as a reporting source.
