Active Administrator 5.x-6.x - GPO settings file does not exist
Via the Active Administrator Console | Group Policy | GPO History, the “Show changes” or “Selected GPO Settings” operations will fail with following error:
The comparison of settings failed. Reason: GPO settings file does not exist.
Active Administrator GPO History can run under a domain user account that is a Local administrator on the Active Administrator server (where the Active Administrator share and services are located), but generally Domain Admins privileges are used since they are already a local administrator. If the service account does not have enough permission “GPOReport.html and GPOReport.xml” cannot be created in each GPO history folder (GUID number assigned). This will cause the error.
Delete everything inside the C:\ActiveAdministrator\GPOHistory (default path and folder name) folder. Open a command prompt and navigate to following folder:
64-bit operating systems
“C:\Program Files (x86)\ScriptLogic Corporation\Active Administrator 5\Server\”
“C:\Program Files (x86)\ScriptLogic Corporation\Active Administrator 6\Server\”
32-bit operating systems
“C:\Program Files\ScriptLogic Corporation\Active Administrator 5\Server\”
“C:\Program Files\ScriptLogic Corporation\Active Administrator 6\Server\”
Run the command “SWGPOSvc.exe –checknow” to force the history service to look for the changes immediately.
This will recreate the folders and each GPO history folder should now contain GPOReport.html and GPOReport.xml files.
