When remotely connecting to a machine using the remote management component, the connection is made but when attempting to use any of the Java enabled features such as remote control or monitoring the host screen the “Loading Java Applet” message appears but the applet does not load.
This issue may occur if the machines that are being remote controlled are located behind a Cisco PIX firewall. The PIX firewall uses a fixup protocol over port 2000 by default. The Desktop Authority remote management component service also uses port 2000 by default. The resulting issue is that a port conflict exists.
To resolve this issue, make the necessary changes to the PIX firewall to disable the fixup protocol using 2000. Alternatively, the port that is being used by the Desktop Authority service may be changed to a port other than port 2000.
