Sybase Rules -- TempDB_Space and Database_Space fires a fatal alarm twice.
New Sybase databases have segments named default, system, and logsegment created as part of the initial database.
The Sybase_MDA Agent TempDb_Space Rule (temporary database space) rule fires when the space used on a segment within a temporary database exceeds the defined threshold.
In the examples we reviewed in this example, two different segments in alerted as being full for the tempdb database.
Sybase ASE TESTINSTANCE1: Segment default in Database tempdb is 100.00% full
Sybase ASE TESTINSTANCE2: Segment logdefault in Database tempdb is 100.00% full
As the default and logsegment are separate segments in the same database, both should alarm individually when the threshold is reached.
For the Sybase_MDA Agent Database_Space Rule, the Database Space rule fires when any individual segment in a database exceeds the defined threshold.
Space for a segment can be increased in several ways.
If the database is extended onto a device already in use by the database, the segments mapped to that device are also extended.
