The client will install on the laptop but will require a reboot to finish the installation and upon rebooting, it freezes the laptop.
This can be caused by the finger print scanner.
In this instance disabling the finger print scanner within the BIOS and anything else related to it within Device manager seemed to fix it in this case.
There is a hotfix for this problem whereby Quest released an updated 7.2.1 client installer that allowed for the install without the Virtual USB component, this also avoids the issue.
