When making a connection to a vWorkspace remote session it is possible to specify different printer connectivity options, for example you can choose to connect only local printers, only network printers or any combination of options.
You can configure the settings either using the Quest Universal Printer option in the Windows Control Panel or by using a login script to make a registry modification
1. Log into a VDI computer and then open the Control Panel
2. Select the Quest Universal Printer option to open the Properties window
3. From the General tab, select the desired options from, 'Auto-create network printers’, 'Auto-create local printers' and ‘no universal printers’
4. Click OK to confirm the changes and then log out of the VDI
The process described above will allow you to change the setting on a VDI, if you wish to make this change on many VDI's then it is possible to configure the change via a Registry edit, this could be applied to a login script for deployment.
To control the printer creation settings the key to modify is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Provision Networks\Print-IT\AutoCreateOption
The AutoCreateOption key is a Dword value, which can be set to the following:
no universal printers created - 0
auto create local printers only - 2
auto create network printers only - 4
auto create local & network Printers - 6
