The vRanger 5.2.x VA, vzva-1.1.3, can in some cases hang at boot on scratch disk initialization. This renders a looping boot routine that contains the following sequencing [ please also see attached ]
Undetermined at present, but suspected to be related to either AMD Opteron cpu host & / or problem with Virtual Center Managed Object Browser representation of the 2nd /dev/sdb 'scratch' disk
1. Power down VA
2. In VC client, remove the VA scratch disk, typically virtual device node scsi 0:1 from the VA's device listing.
3. Re-add scratch disk to VM on different node, such as scsi 1:0
4. Power on VA to test for effect [ VA should boot normally now ]
Opteron 64-bit processors earlier than rev E and Intel processors that have EM64T support but not VT support enabled, do not support a 64-bit guest operating system. For detailed hardware requirements, see the Hardware Compatibility List on the VMware Web site.
